My Everyday Makeup Favorites
I love makeup, but I’m far from a beauty expert. On a daily basis I tend to stick to a few reliable products. Here all the everyday makeup products I use:
FACE
Primer-If I want to prevent my face from becoming an oil slick by 2:00 PM I always use a primer before foundation. Smashbox’s Photo Finish primer is my current fave, I can feel that it is providing a layer of smoothness when I apply it.
Foundation-I use Estee Lauder Double Wear in Sandalwood everyday. I’ve tried lots of foundations and this is one never fails, it keeps my oily skin mostly matte and has great buildable coverage. And best of all the have a huge range of shades! I apply it with my Fenty full bodied foundation brush.
Concealer-Nars Radiant in Café is a super popular concealer for good reason! It provides me with good coverage especially for my dark spots. I apply it first and then my foundation for the most uniform look.
Contour-For my under eye and lighter contour tone I use LA Girl Pro Concealer in Fawn. This inexpensive concealer is smooth and easy to blend and comes in a variety of shades. For the darker contour I use Sacha powder blush in matte brown. I am not usually a powder person but I love the tone of this blush and I blend with an angled brush.
In addition to the powder, I actually use this MJ brown lipstick to add more depth to my contour and emphasize my cheeks more. I find the lipstick easier to blend than powder, even though it’s not technically meant as a contour.
Highlighter-I am obsessed with Cover FX’s Custom Enhancer drops in candlelight. This is a highly pigmented liquid highlighter that comes in a few shades. It can be used a variety of ways, I apply it to my cheekbones, or it can be mixed in with your foundation for an all over glow. I use a small concealer brush to blend.
Powder-I set all my makeup with Sacha Buttercup powder using my beauty blender.
EYES
Brows-For a quick brow I like Revlon’s brow pencil in black. Anastasia Beverly Hills products are all good as well.
Eyeshadow-I don’t wear much eye shadow as I’m not that skilled at applying it, but when I do, I like the Tarte palette, it has good solid neutral colors for an everyday look.
Eyeliner-This Stila eyeliner has been a favorite for a while, the felt tip makes it easy to line my eyes close to my lash line and finish off with a little cateye.
Mascara-These days, I usually have lash extensions (and you can’t use regular mascara with lash extensions) but when I don’t have extensions, I use Better Than Sex mascara that lives up to its name for the blackest, boldest lashes possible.
LIPS
Everyday-I like a neutral lip, I can’t live without my Sephora lip pencils in molasses (brown) and sink or suede (pink). The formula is creamy and nicely pigmented. I line the outside of my lips with the brown color and the middle part of my lips with the pink and blend. For a little extra, I top it off with Fenty glow lip gloss.
Glam-Liquid Lipstick is always the way to go, deep shades compliment my skin tone best. I like LAX from Colorpop. Liquid lipstick is a little drying on my lips so I top it off with some regular Vaseline or chapstick.
Finishing spray-I set the whole look with Urban Decay all-nighter setting spray.
Stay tuned! One of these days I’ll do a full quick tutorial of my everyday makeup look
